Top 10 Wrinkled Runner Posts from 2019
Here it is…the annual top 10 series from the Wrinkled Runner.
This week we list the posts from the blog:
- Can Mindful Running Work for You– Review of the book “Mindful Running” by Mackenzie L. Havey
- Explaining Different Running Workouts– Just what it sounds like. I go over different running terms such as fartlek, tempo, interval and give examples of how to use them in your training.
- Setting Up a Running Journal– This post is pretty much a tutorial on how to set up a digital running journal a la Evernote.
- Successful Marathon Training is More than Miles– In order to run a marathon, you have to understand that it takes more than just running a whole lot of miles. Training your mind, keeping track of your nutrition, incorporating running workouts…all go into being successful.
- Running Resolutions– Talking about the resolutions you can make (or steps you can take) if you want to become a runner, run a specific race distance, get faster or other running goals.
- What to Do When You Can’t Run– Having to have some surgery on my leg…literally on the day I was supposed to start marathon training…was annoying! I had to find other ways to keep up my fitness.
- What is Athlinks– Athlinks is a website/app that tracks all your races and has everything in one spot. I can go into the app on my phone to get my “stats” when someone asks my times (I always forget). This website is also used to prove your race times for marathons when qualifying for guaranteed entries based on age group/time finished.
- Running with My Shadow– weird posting, but it made the top 10, LOL! I noticed on a run that my shoulders were up near my ears by looking at my shadow as I ran. I now use my shadow as a “form check” when the sun is in the right place!
- Handling a Running Slump– this post is a personal glimpse into the running slump/burnout I experienced early in 2019 and what I did to identify it and get out of it. Overtraining was a huge factor!
- Gift Ideas for the Runner– the annual holiday idea list from 2019. Links to the previous years as well, to give you tons of ideas!
