The Top 5 Wrinkled Runner Podcast Episodes for 2023
The Wrinkled Runner Podcast
If you haven’t explored the podcast yet, you can find a link here on the website. The episodes are geared more for newer or older runners, although there is information on there for just about anyone.
One of the things you learn as you put out content, is to “niche down”, so that you are speaking to a very specific audience. I find it difficult with running to separate out certain running topics, since in a lot of cases running is running…no matter the age or the experience level of the runner. We are all always trying to find out more and get better!
RRCA Start to Run Program
Definitely one of the “new runner” topics is discussing starting to run. For my athletes, I usually get them started with a run/walk program…and the one put out by the RRCA (the certification I have as a coach) is the one I go to most.
I put together a series of 10 runs (which equal 10 weeks of going from a 1 minute run/4 minute walk for 30 minutes to a full 30 minute run) for the podcast. Each of the episodes I recorded live on a 30 minute run, and I talk about a lot of things that a new runner should think about. I also gave cues when to walk and when to run for each episode.
The 5th most popular episode is:
Week 2 of the RRCA Run/Walk Start to Run Program
Number 3 is the
Introduction to the RRCA Start to Run Program
And number 2 is:
Week 1 of the RRCA Run/Walk Start to Run Program.
If you are just starting out and want to get to a 30 minute run in 10 weeks, this is the series for you!
Strength Training for Runners
Those of us who run tend to run a lot, and then be a little (or a lot) less consistent in foam rolling, doing drills, warm ups and strength training.
The episode on Strength Training came in at number 4 last year.
As a coach, I include weight training with all my programming because I think it is so helpful as runners to be strong.
Dr. Robert Wolfe: Essential Amino Acids
Dr. Wolfe is a runner and has done extensive research on amino acids and how they interact with our muscles and help with recovery.
This was the most popular episode last year. It was the most interesting for me to do as well! Give it a listen if you want to learn about how amino acids can get you recovered faster, especially as we age.
We are in the 7th Season
This blog just celebrated its 5th anniversary, and we just started the 7th season of the podcast! Things definitely look different for me since I started this little venture, but I have a lot of fun putting together what I hope is interesting and relevant content.
