The Garmin Connect Website: An Overview

An Overview

The Garmin Connect Website

I am going to start a series on using the Garmin Connect Website.

If you use a Garmin for running, you have access to your data via the website, but a lot of people I talk to don’t know that it exists.

Though you can see a lot of data on your Garmin Connect app on your phone, or even with the watch, sometimes being able to look at everything and change things on a laptop or tablet makes things a lot easier.

Today’s post is going to give you an overview, and then each week I’ll do a dive into the various things that you can do and see for each section of the website.

You will need to go to the Garmin Connect website, not the general Garmin one.

How to Get In

You should have a Garmin account, and that email and password will be linked to you on the Connect site, where you will see the data from the watch.

Navigating the Site

You will see a sidebar that guides you to the various areas on the site.

The Dashboard gives you access to most of the information that you would want to see on a daily or weekly basis.

You can choose the Activity Dashboard, or the Fitness Dashboard and also create your own.

Sidebar with Dashboards

Fitness Dashboard

In the lower right of the Dashboards, you can add a widget from the sidebar of things you may want to include on the dashboards that already exist.

Creating Your Own Dashboard

You can add a dashboard and name it.

You can then add any of the widgets to it you want.

Information from Watch

You will see on the sidebar that the website contains all of the information you get on your Connect App, and you can dive into any of the pages for more data.

Notifications

Any notifications you may get will show up in the upper right hand corner.

For example, the site showed me that I met my mile requirement for the shoes I was wearing. Ever since I had a stress fracture, I only run 300 miles on each pair of shoes and I have set up my device to let me know when that is reached.

Devices

You can quickly get into the settings for any Garmin Device that you have synced to this account.

I’ll go over the Devices section in a different post.

Import Data

You can also import data from another device such as fitbit, or another Garmin, or from a Garmin device that may be connected that doesn’t sync correctly.

I haven’t had to do that and I don’t import from other devices, so here are the links to the information:

Next Time…

The next post in this series will show you how to navigate the Activity Dashboard and set up your device.
