Gifts for Runners
For those of us who run, getting something that we’ve been eyeing from the running store is a special treat.
Especially if it is something we wouldn’t normally splurge on.
Since my husband and I both run, we know what the other likes and can pick things out with that knowledge. If you are the only runner, you may need to make a wish list for your loved ones…or send them a link to this post!
I included both practical items and some that you may not have thought of.

Clothing
Balega Socks– these are the socks I use, and I love them! They have really helped keep the blister count down.
Jacket by Gore Wear– lightweight, crushable…yet keeps you dry in the rain. Great for packing when you may not know what the weather will be like at your destination.
Brooks Juno Sports Bra– women love this sports bra. It holds you in and doesn’t move… so no chafing! Getting in on takes some getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I really liked it.
Zensah Socks– fun socks with many patterns to choose from. Wicks away moisture, and I like the higher profile for running in the cold.
Zensah Compression Leg Sleeves– also in fun patterns! If you (or the runner you are shopping for) suffer from shin splints or sore calves, give these a try.
Under Armor– my husband and I love anything Under Armor. The Cold Gear stuff is a must for our Buffalo runs and the Heat Gear items are lightweight and we don’t feel sweaty in the summer. If the run ends before we are close to home and we have to walk a bit, the cold gear keeps us dryer and warmer than other gear we’ve tried.
Smartwool Neck Gaiter– great added protection when the wind chill gets below zero. Unless there is a layer of thick ice on the ground or freezing rain, I will run outside rather than the treadmill and anything to keep me warm goes on! I also will pull this over my lower face, too.
For Fun
Jewelry that is also a nod to one of our favorite things to do. This pick is a great way to show the runner you love you support their sport.
Sports Medal Display– if your runner is shy and won’t buy one for themselves, give them the tool to let them proudly display their bibs and medals!
Stocking Stuffer????
Desk Calendar– a running specific calendar that can inspire and keep track of the days, something fun for the office.
Journal– a running specific journal will chronicle your journey (the whole reason I started this blog, btw) and you can also use it to take note of when you buy new shoes and the mileage you put on them. Shoes should be retired after about 500 miles (sooner if you have had injuries such as stress fractures).
Gear
Hydration Belts– Even in winter, longer runs require hydration. This is the one I use, and I love the pouch to store my phone and fuel for marathon training.
Nut Butter– speaks for itself. Based on my husband’s complaints after long runs, this is a product that male runners will love!
Sunglasses are a must for any time of year. Also look into straps that hold them to your head…helps stop the annoying slippage that can happen when the sweat starts to pour.
Bone Conduction Headphones allows runners to still hear and be aware of surroundings while listening to music or podcasts. These have reflective strips for visibility, which is the safest way to go when the days have more darkness than light.
Yak Trax– running on snow and ice is not only dangerous, it makes it hard to keep up any kind of pace. These grip and help keep us safe and upright.
Any kind of lights to help your runner be seen in the dark. Whether running early in the morning or even after work…these winter days are short on sunshine!
Recovery
Keep your runner’s feet free from injury, or if something is already starting…this set can help. I’ve used this when my arch was in excruciating pain to get some relief from plantar fasciitis.
OOFOS sports sandal can soothe sore feet after a run and help alleviate pain. These are even machine washable, which is pretty awesome.
Hopefully, this has given you some ideas. Like me, you may even be thinking of just gifting yourself.
