Top 10 Blog Posts:
Today’s post is our semi-annual list of the Top 10! These are the posts that were the most popular over the past 6 months.
- Incorporating Strength Training– this post talks about why we as runners also need to add some strength training workouts, and I include some videos of exercises to try.
- Becoming a Runner Part 2– I talk about the here and now (albeit the here and now from 4 months ago). It is a little bit of a longer post, but at the end I discuss 6 things I think a new runner can learn from my journey.
- When Your Run Sucks– This post isn’t that old, but still it resonated with a lot of runners to jump to the top 3! A lot of you must have sucky runs. Which in a very weird way is kind of encouraging to me. Sometimes in this Instagram world, we see everyone looking great and gazelle-like in pictures while we are just trying to get off the couch and out the door. Or we have all the motivation to get out for a run, and then 1/2 mile in we feel like crap and want to quit. It really does happen to everybody. Being honest about it can be hard (like anything else), but I think if we can acknowledge the suck we can get better.
- Running and Peeing– I wrote this a while ago, but runners search for this all the time. The article is written from the perspective of having to go to the bathroom and not being able to find one, but I also go into incontinence on the run and what you can do about it.
- Cross Training for the Runner– Just like strength training, it is a good idea to break out of just running every day to finding other physically active outlets that not only mix it up a bit, but can be beneficial to running.
- How I Became a Runner– This is the first in the two-part series of my personal running story. Like a lot of those of us who run, losing weight was the main reason I started down the path to becoming a runner.
- All By Myself– I run with my husband and I run alone. I did a series on the advantages to each, and the post about running alone is what received the most attention.
8. 7 Laundry Rules for Running Clothes– self-explanatory! We really do need to care for our running attire differently than our “regular” clothing to keep them looking (and smelling) good.
- 5 Things I Learned Training for the Marathon– Every runner has a different story to tell. These are the things I learned about running and myself during the 5 months of training leading up to my first marathon.
- Foaming at the Hip– All about foam rolling. I still do not do this as often as I should!
So there you have it! The top 10 blog posts for the past 6 months. Some of them have been updated since posting, so even if you read them before you may find something new.
